Undergraduate:
The scholarship amount is determined based solely on the strength of your academic record, with awards classified into the following three levels:

Level A: $11,998 per year (2 sessions, equivalent to 30 credits) or $5,999 per session (15 credits) or $399 per credit
Level B: $5,718 per year (2 sessions, equivalent to 30 credits) or $2,859 per session (15 credits) or $190.60 per credit
Level C: $2,000 per year (2 sessions, equivalent to 30 credits) or $1,000 per session (15 credits) or $66.67 per credit
These amounts are applied to tuition fees of $23,662 per year (30 credits).

Master’s:

As an international student, you may receive a partial exemption from the additional tuition fees typically required for international students to support your graduate studies.

$9,420 per year (3 sessions, equivalent to 45 credits) or $3,140 per session (equivalent to 15 credits)
This amount is applied to tuition fees of $27,300 per year (45 credits).

PhD:

International students can receive a full waiver of the additional tuition fees typically charged to international students, supporting their graduate studies.

This exemption bursary allows you to benefit from the same tuition fees as Québec graduate studies students.

$19,339 per year (3 sessions, equivalent to 45 credits) or $6,546 per session (equivalent to 15 credits) for the entire duration of your studies.
This amount is applied to the tuition fees of $24,300 per year (45 credits).

Eligibility Criteria for Université de Montréal Scholarships 2025

To be eligible for the Global Excellence Postgraduate Taught Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Language Requirement: Proficiency in English.
  • Eligible Countries: Applicants from all countries worldwide.
  • Residency Status: Must hold a study permit and not be Canadian permanent residents or citizens.
  • Enrollment Status: Must be enrolled full-time throughout the duration of their program.
  • Exemption Status: Must not receive another form of tuition fee exemption from any other policy or program. For instance, French and Belgian Francophone students already benefit from such exemptions.

How to apply for Université de Montréal Scholarships 2025

  1. Start your application for admission
    Begin your application process smoothly by using “Compass”, an interactive checklist that will assist you in navigating through the necessary steps. Prior to submitting your application form, ensure that you adhere to the application deadlines and review the admission requirements for your chosen study programs.
  2. Monitor your application progress and receive an admission offer; Shortly after submitting your admissions application, you will receive access codes for the “Student Centre.” This platform allows you to track your application status and receive your acceptance letter.
  3. Accept the admission offer to initiate the evaluation process.
    There is no need to apply separately for a UdeM Exemption Scholarship. New candidates’ files will undergo evaluation to determine their eligibility and the scholarship amount.
  4. Receive the award notification with the specified amount.
    Following your admission offer, Université de Montréal will promptly email you with details of the scholarship amount you qualify for. Print and store this document securely for future reference.
